LOBO SHORT COURSE HOLIDAY CLASSIC/50 FREESTYLE SHOOTOUT

November 7-9, 2008

SANCTION: This meet is held under sanction of USA Swimming, Inc., and New Mexico Swimming, Inc.

Current 2008 USA Swimming and NMS rules will govern the conduct of this meet. NMS Sanction: NMS09I05

LOCATION: West Mesa Aquatic Center, 6705 Fortuna Road NW, Albuquerque, NM 87121

DIRECTIONS: Heading West on I-40, take the south exit at Coors Blvd. Travel south on Coors Blvd to Fortuna Road. Turn Right (west) onto Fortuna Road. The pool is located on the

north side of West Mesa High School. Parking is available south & west of the

facility.

FACILITY: The pool is 8 lanes by 50 meters (configured as 25 yards), equipped with non-turbulent lane

lines and Colorado Timing System. Lanes will be open for warm-up/warm-down throughout

the meet.

VENUE: The Lobo Invite is being held within the walled confines of the West Mesa Aquatic Center. Restroom facilities are located at the north end of the facility. The venue is handicap accessible. The City of Albuquerque prohibits smoking or use of tobacco products on the pool deck, in the changing rooms, in spectator seating, and in all areas used by swimmers during the course of this meet. No glass containers will be allowed anywhere inside the West Mesa Aquatic Center. The leisure pools at the West Mesa Aquatic Center are strictly “off-limits” to all participants, spectators, and officials during the meet. Carry in chairs will not be permitted in the stands. The meet safety marshal will patrol all of these areas.

LIABILITY: New Mexico Swimming, Inc., USA Swimming, Inc., Lobo Aquatic Club, the West Mesa Aquatic Center, all meet sponsors and all meet officials shall be held free from any and all

liabilities or claims for damages arising by reason of injuries to anyone during the conduct of

this meet.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all 2008 and 2009 USA Swimming registered athletes. All participating teams must sign and return, with their entries, the team registration form that attests to swimmers current USA Swimming registration. All registrations will be verified. The swimmer’s age as of Nov 7 shall be used to determine competition age group. No on deck USA Swimming

registrations will be accepted.

FORMAT: The Holiday Classic will be a five-session event. This is a timed final short course yards meet

consisting of competition in the 8 & U, 10 & U, 9-10, 11-12, and Open age groups. Events

will be preseeded with the exception of the 400 IM’s, 500 Freestyles, 1000 Freestyle, and

the 1650 Freestyle. These events will require positive check-in, from the start of warm-up and

will close 30 minutes prior to the end of the warm-up session. The 1650 and 1000 Freestyles

will be swum fastest to slowest, alternating women and men. Only the top 32 entries in the

1650 and 1000 will be accepted. Coaches will be notified by phone or e-mail if an entry in the 1650 and 1000 is not accepted. Whistle starts will be used. No Recall False Starts will be in effect.

50 FREESTYLE

SHOOTOUT: The top 8 female and male swimmers entered in the 50 Free Open event will swim in

the 50 Freestyle Shootout. Please note, in the event schedule, when each round of the 50 Freestyle will be swam. The entry times for this event will be verified in SWIMS database to ensure the quality of the event. Coaches will be notified if their

swimmers will be in the shootout and will be given the option to remain in the Shoot-

out or move to a lower heat.

ENTRIES: Swimmers may swim a maximum of 5 individual events per day. Swimmers may swim in

only one age group per event. Swimmers in the 1650 and the 1000 Freestyle must provide

two timers and a counter for their event. Please submit all entries on Hy-Tek disk, with hard

copy, or on the attached individual entry form. Hy-Tek entries may also be e-mailed.

DEADLINE: Entries and Entry Fees must be received no later than Friday, October 31, 2008. If you send

by overnight mail, please sign to allow drop off in no one is home. Make team checks

payable to “LOBO AQUATIC CLUB.” Send entries and fees to:

FEES: Individual Event: $2.50 per event

NMS Surcharge: $2.00 per swimmer

Pool Surcharge: $5.00 per swimmer

DECK ENTRIES: Deck entries will be accepted up to 30 minutes prior to the start of each session and charged

$5.00 per event plus surcharge if the swimmer is not already entered in the meet. Deck entries

will be placed into available lanes without regard to seed times. New heats will not be

created. Deck entries must show proof of 2008 or 2009 USA Swimming registration.

WARM-UP: NMS meet warm-up procedures will be followed. All swimmers must be under the

supervision of a coach who is registered with USA Swimming during all warm-up sessions.

COACHES: There will be a coaches meeting approximately 10 minutes to the start of each session, if

required. All coaches must display their current USA Swimming Coaches’ card while on

deck at the meet.

AWARDS: Awards will be given to 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd HIGH POINT winners in the 8 & U, 9-10, 11-12,

13-14, and 15 & Over age groups. Ribbons will be awarded to the 1^st through 8^th place

finishers in individual events for 8 & U, 9-10, and 11-12.

SCORING: 8 & Under swimmers competing in 10 & Under events will be scored relative to their finish

with other 8 & Under swimmers in those events.

11-12 swimmers competing in the 200 Fly, 200 Breast, and 200 Back will be scored relative

to their finish with other 11-12 swimmers in those events.

13 & Older swimmers will be scored as 13-14 and 15 & Over in events 3-4, 43-52, and 83-94.

The 1000 & 1650 Freestyle swimmers will receive points based on their overall finish.

CONCESSIONS: A concession table will be available throughout the meet. A Team Merchandise shop will be available for swim equipment and apparel sales.

1. Swimsuits worn for all 12 & under age group defined competition shall not cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, nor past the knee.
2. Swimsuits worn for competition must be non-transparent and conform to the current concept of the appropriate.
3. The referee shall have the authority to bar offenders from competition until they comply with the rule.
